Barr Smith is the Owner and Co-Founder of Barlow Vineyards, a family–run estate winery
located along the Silverado Trail in northern Napa Valley. He was raised in a family that valued both hard work and respect of nature. Barr studied geology at Humboldt State University, a foundation that later shaped his deep understanding of vineyard soils and sustainable farming practices. Barr oversees operations at Barlow Vineyards, which now produces approximately 1,900 cases annually, including estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and a Cabernet blend. His leadership reflects a commitment to hands–on farming, family collaboration, and crafting wines that express the character of their Calistoga estate.
