Charles “Zeke” Wray

Executive Chef Zeke Wray stumbled in to the kitchen at age 15 and quickly discovered his passion for the culinary world.  Starting his career as a dishwasher in his native Colorado, he quickly moved up to prep cook and then found his calling on the hotline. Zeke studied at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, learning the principles that have allowed him to develop and refine his passion and interests over the last 20+ years. 

The mountains lured Wray, an avid snowboarder, to Park City where he worked up and down historic Main Street and assisted in opening a dozen different eateries. In 2009, Zeke moved his family to Arizona to fulfill his lifelong goal of owning and operating his own restaurant which he named Sophia’s after his daughter.  But Canyons recruited him back to Utah shortly thereafter to open Bistro at Canyons, the first and only kosher fine dining restaurant at a ski resort.  In 2012, he was appointed Canyons’ executive chef. Zeke’s philosophy and passion reflect his down-to-earth lifestyle. His style lies in creating strong foundations presented with unique creative twists. 

 In the spirit of continuing to evolve, Zeke accepted the role as Senior Director of Hospitality Food and Beverage for Park City Resort in 2014.  “I am excited to have the opportunity to inspire a larger group of amazing people and continue to learn as much as possible.”

Zeke enjoys working with his team to help develop and discover their own talents in the same way that he was encouraged… by learning continuously and always having fun. Away from the Restaurant, Zeke tries to balance a healthy lifestyle by spending as much time as possible with his wife, Trish, and their two children, Sophia (13) and Max(8) .
