Vice President of Sales, Scarpetta Wine
Chris has been in the imported wine business for 35 years. After three years with a young wine company where he sold Romanee Conti, Chris joined Winebow, Inc. in 1985. He worked closely with the owner, Leonardo LoCascio, to develop an Italian wine market in America. In 1985 Chris helped pioneer the sales of then little-known Italian wines such as Salice Salentino from Puglia with Dr. Cosimo Taurino. After 14 years with Winebow he joined the large Sicilian winery Calatrasi, and helped to develop a U.S. market for their wines from Sicily and Puglia. These experiences resulted in a life-long love affair with everything Italian.
In 2001 Chris joined the Italian wine company Vias Imports, Ltd. Vias is headquartered in the city of Trento, Italy. Vias represents eighty wineries from 18 of Italy’s 20 regions. The portfolio contains almost 400 Italian wines. Chris was the NW Region Manager for Vias Imports for 15 years
Over the past twenty-five years Chris has traveled to Italy over thirty times, leading trips for clients and consumers alike.
Besides being a recognized Italian wine instructor, he has also been an invited speaker at the Aspen Food & Wine Classic, Telluride Wine Festival, the Monterey Wine Festival as well as presenting Italian wines to the Society of Wine Educators.
In 2016 Chris joined the Scarpetta Wine Co as V.P. of sales. Together we are building the national distributor network for Scarpetta wines and introducing the wonderful Scarpetta portfolio created by Bobby Stuckey, M.S. and James Beard Award winning chef Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson.
