David grew up near California’s Napa and Sonoma regions before studying Viticulture
and Enology at UC Davis, where his love for science met a perfect match in his passion
for food and nature. After years crafting premium wines across the North Coast, he
returned to his alma mater to manage its research winery operations. Driven by a spirit
of discovery, David left California to pioneer a new winemaking frontier in Northern
Utah.
With 15 years of experience, he built Purple Sky Winery from the ground up, overseeing
everything from design to production as General Manager and Head Winemaker. Utah
has since shaped David’s personal story as well; he got engaged in Zion National Park
and married in Eden. An avid fly fisher, winter sports enthusiast, and astrophotographer,
his deep appreciation for Utah’s unique terrain shapes both his lifestyle and his distinct
approach to winemaking.
